FAQs

Q: Will I meet my dog walker?

Yes. This allows us to get to know your dog, their likes and dislikes and promotes trust from yourselves and your dog. We offer a free face-to-face initial consultation in order to understand your dog’s personality and needs and to understand what you require and expect from your dog’s walk. This will also give you the chance to ask us any questions you may have. If you decide to use our service, we will provide a welcome package which will include a copy of our insurance certificate, and CRB certificates , to give you peace of mind.

Q: Do you arrange picking up and dropping off the dogs?

We will collect your dog from your home/place of work at an agreed time set by yourself and then return them, clean and fulfilled after their walk. We use a spacious, well equipped van, allowing a safe and comfortable journey to and from their walk. Upon our return we will re-fill their water and if requested, food bowl also.

Q: Are you insured?

Yes. Personal Pet Services is fully insured with Cliverton (please click here for details), this includes key cover. A copy of our insurance certificate will be available to view during your free consultation.

Q: Do I need to be home when you collect or drop off my dog and will you need a key?

You will not need to be home when we collect or drop your dog off, however we will need a key. We will both sign a document to state that you have entrusted me with your key. All keys are kept securely and they will never display any details relating to your property address.

Q: How do I know I can trust you?

We are both CRB Checked, for which we provide copies for you to keep in the welcome pack. We take the security of your home and the welfare of your pet very seriously, please rest assured that both are in safe hands.

Q: What do you do in case of an emergency?

In the unlikely event of an emergency, we will immediately call to notify you. In your consultation, we ensure that we have your emergency contact details along with the details of your veterinary practice. If veterinary assistance is required, we will take your dog to your named veterinary practice, or depending on the circumstances, to the nearest possible one. For minor injuries, we always carry a pet first aid kit.

Q: Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Monmouth, however we cover Monmouthshire, the Wye Valley, The Forest of Dean and South Herefordshire. If you live more than three miles outside of Monmouth Shire Hall (NP25 3DY) a 50p per mile fuel charge will apply.

Q: Do you take bitches in season?

Unfortunately as a responsible business, we are unable to walk a bitch which is in season.

Q: Does my dog have to be vaccinated?

Yes, for the safety of our other dogs.

Q: How many dogs are walked at any one time?

It depends on the group dynamic, they are carefully selected with breed, age, sex and personality in mind and can be discussed with the owner beforehand.

Q: What happens if my dog doesn’t get on with another dog?

We carefully select which dogs will walk together and if we find an imbalance within the group we will switch accordingly and inform you of our decision. We pride ourselves on all dogs enjoying all walks.

Q: I only require occasional walks for my dog, not every week or every day, can you help?

Yes. We are happy to provide services as and when you require.

Q: My dog can be aggressive with other dogs or people, can you still walk him?

Unfortunately not, for the welfare and responsibility of other dogs we are unable to walk a dog that could potentially harm another dog or person.

Q: Do you walk dogs off the lead?

All dogs will be walked on their leads unless express permission is given by the customer for the dog to be walked off the lead. If permission is given however, with a new dog we prefer to start by using a lead until they are familiar with us.

Q: Can you administer my pet’s medication?

We are happy to administer medication for your pet(s), in accordance with your written instructions.

Q: What happens when you go on holiday?

When we go on holiday we will do our best to arrange alternative care for your pets, however unfortunately this is sometimes not possible. We give our clients 4-6 weeks notice prior to any planned vacations to arrange care if required.
